A workshop format to explore traditional basketry
This summer camp explored new applications of basketry techniques. An international group of architecture, design and crafts students worked together with 5 master artisans from Portugal taking place at the Popular Art Museum (MAP) in Lisbon, Portugal. Guided by design mentors and tutors, the teams got introduced to five fibres* and respective traditional techniques before co-creating a series of new contemporary proposals.
The Summer Camp was an initiative of the Portuguese Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship.
